Needles, Yard Sales, and a Splinted Finger: A Real-Life Plot Twist

You ever have one of those seasons where your planner laughed at your intentions? Well, welcome to mine.

I fully intended this summer to be productive, Pinterest-perfect, and filled with boutique wins. Instead… life said, “Hold my sweet tea.” And honestly? I had to listen.

Let’s start with the iron infusions.
Yep — I’ve been spending quality time with an IV pole lately. Not exactly the summer glow-up I had in mind, but when your body waves the white flag, you don’t argue — you show up and sit still while the drip-drip-drip of liquid iron tries to put your sparkle back. It’s not glamorous, but it’s real. And if you’ve ever dealt with iron deficiency, you know — the fatigue is no joke. You don’t even want to blink hard.

But wait — plot twist #2.

Mamaw — the MVP of sass and seasoned yard sale queen — took her annual trip to Ohio. That woman can sniff out a Pyrex deal from three counties away. But mid-treasure hunt, she decided to test gravity. She fell. HARD. (10/10 would not recommend.) And just when we thought we were out of the woods, she sliced her finger on the way home, bad enough to need stitches and a splint. Because of course she did.

Now picture us: her in a splint trying to make her coffee, me half-asleep from infusions trying to run a boutique and remember where I left my Dr. Pepper. It’s sitcom-level chaos, but we’re trying to laugh more than cry, and neither of us has been voted off the island yet. So that’s a win, right?

Sometimes the most beautiful plans get rerouted. But that doesn’t mean they’re ruined. We’re both slowly getting back on track, one sarcastic comment and deep breath at a time.

So if you’ve felt like life’s been “doing the most” lately — same, sister. We see you. Just know the boutique is still bubbling behind the scenes. Our plans may have been delayed, not denied. We're still here — healing, laughing, and reloading for something sweet.

And if life knocked you sideways too? Pull up a porch swing. We’re in this together.

Love & Band-Aids,
Shon
